Senior School - Year 11 and Year 12

Welcome to the senior phase of your education. Australian Trade College North Brisbane prides itself on the ability to provide a structured and well-supported trade and business focused curriculum, leading to strong Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) attainment and employment pathways. This is based on the philosophy that students can reach their potential through many and varied pathways. There is not just one way to reach your career goal.

Our responsibility as a school is to ensure we support our students through the transition from Year 10 into Years 11 and 12, so that students have every opportunity to be successful if they choose to be. Our College is committed to the pursuit of quality teaching and trade training in order to equip young people with the knowledge and skills to remain competitive in a constantly changing world.

The senior academic subjects of Maths, English and Business are taught in a way to ensure there is a purpose and industry specific link to each specific trade program. The College embeds the subject of Industry Preparation across all year levels assisting students to develop interview, resume writing, goal setting, teamwork, communication and employability skills.

Our pre-apprenticeship trade training programs have been specifically designed to expose students to a wide range of skills within each industry: Automotive, Construction / Cabinet Making, Plumbing, Commercial Cookery, Early Childhood Education, Electrotechnology, Hairdressing and Barbering, Information Technology, Health Services and Metal Engineering. We specialise in developing individual programs for students who wish to complete their QCE in conjunction with a School-based Apprenticeship or Traineeship (SbAT).

Along with these studies, we have other traditional ‘school’ activities, including leadership and team building programs, road safety program, the Year 12 Senior Formal, sports activities along with a number of community fundraising and support initiatives.  This allows students the best of both worlds, the benefits of trade training, while still enjoying typical school milestones.
