IGNITE your passion for a trade career!
The Australian Trade College North Brisbane provides that opportunity with its unique alternative for Year 11 and 12 students to start their trade career (at Certificate III level of their chosen trade) at the end of Year 10 and study for their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) at the same time. Students enter into an Australian School-based Apprenticeship and are able to complete up to 45% of their full apprenticeship by the end of Year 12 (if all criteria are met).

The College operates as a co-educational and independent college as well as a registered training organisation. Through this dual role, the College delivers a Senior Secondary curriculum (tailored to suit the trade areas whilst meeting the Queensland Studies Authority’s requirements for QCE eligibility), as well as delivering trade training by industry-current trainers in the College's industry-standard facilities. The very successful "4 weeks-at-work and 4 weeks-at-College" rotational model for trade training and curriculum delivery, developed to suit the needs of the student-apprentices and employers, accelerates trade training and subsequently full time placement.
Students attend the College in a full time capacity adhering to all the guidelines of discipline and uniforms. The focus is “Excellence while getting a Trade” which generates a unique campus atmosphere.
Students are provided with assistance to connect with employers through the support of the College Industry Consultants. For more information go to the "Employers" section in this website.
In summary, each Australian School-based Apprentice (ASbA) enrolled at the College has the opportunity to: Accelerate their school-based training in industry standard facilities at the College with an excess of 816 hours trade training Complete senior studies and achieve a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) Complete up to 45% of an apprenticeship in their chosen industry at a Certificate III Level Be paid an apprentice wage for the time spent ‘at work’ with their employer
