Prime Minister's 2010 Vocational Prizes awarded
The Minister for School Education, the Hon Peter Garrett MP, has announced the winners of the 2010 Australian Vocational Student Prize and Prime Minister’s award for Skills Excellence in School.
In a worldwide skilled tradesperson shortage crisis, becoming trade qualified is a student's true passport to acquiring skills for their future career. Vocational education delivers working scenarios, hands-on practicality and experience with employers who value employability skills in preference to qualifications alone. The practical emphasis of the College curriculum is creating better job prospects and experience for our students; however, the qualifications also lead to further study opportunities in higher education (University). Our qualifications provide entrance requirements to various university courses (course dependent). A tradesperson may head into further studies in Project Management or Engineering and Business and IT graduates can pursue degrees in their relevant or specialised fields.
Certificate III
Successful completion of Year 10 in Australia or equivalent, with a sound competency in Mathematics and English. English as a Second Language students must have 5.5 on IELTS; or 530 on TOEFL.
Diploma
Successful completion of Year 12 in Australia or equivalent, with a sound competency in Mathematics and English; OR Certificate IV in Business; OR Vocational experience in a range of work environments in senior support roles. English as a Second Language students must have 6.0 on IELTS; or 530 on TOEFL.
Advanced Diploma
Successful completion of a Diploma in Business; OR Vocational experience in a range of work environments in senior support roles. English as a Second Language students must have 6.0 on IELTS; or 530 on TOEFL.

The announcement of the Australian Defence Technical Scholarships has seen the ATCNB take out 35 scholarships, an increase of 20 on last year.
