The Australian Trade College North Brisbane offers industry standard of vocational education with qualifications that are recognised worldwide.
Australia is a popular venue for students from many countries. It is believed to be the third largest number of international students in the English speaking world and has a safe and welcoming environment for visitors from all around the world.
In January 2007, the Australian Trade College North Brisbane opened its doors to domestic students (from 16 years of age) who wished to undertake an Australian School-based Apprenticeship in the skills shortage trade areas of Automotive, Building and Construction, Commercial Cookery, Electrotechnology and Metal and Engineering. In 2009 this was extended to full time apprentices who chose to have their offsite trade training delivered by the College’s industry-current trade trainers.
Australian students are currently benefitting from this great concept in vocational education since the College’s establishment and the next step has been taken with the College opening its doors for the delivery of its courses to international students. Students wishing to study abroad have a wide variety of choices at the College with options being available in two sectors:
1. Vocational Education and Training (VET) Trade and Technical Training Sector
In the VET sector, post-secondary students can complete a Diploma or Certificate III in Business or IT, or can study a technical trade at a Certificate III level in the industry areas of Automotive, Hospitality, Building and Construction and Metal and Engineering.
2. Senior/Upper Secondary Sector
International Students have similar opportunities to their domestic counterparts - to achieve a senior secondary qualification (Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) as well as a pathway to the completion of a vocational education qualification (including Certificate III courses in Automotive, Hospitality – Commercial Cookery and Cabinet Making) or to articulate to higher education.
Brisbane
Brisbane has a unique combination of the old and the new – where sandstone cathedrals blend seamlessly with steel and glass skyscrapers, where modern architectural design is teamed with a healthy respect for tradition. The streets are linked with a network of grassy parks, drooping palm trees and a river that snakes through the heart of town which reflects a sub-tropical environment. Pristine, colourful, adventurous, inviting and open; these are all accurate descriptions of the heart of the city. As Queensland’s capital, Brisbane has it all and it is the perfect hub for exploring its wide variety of outer lying regions. Spectacular Moreton Bay beckons with its expansive waterways and myriad of islands, as does the white sand surf beaches of the Gold and Sunshine coasts. The regional hinterland is a well-kept secret worthy of exploration, as you’ll find it filled with arts, crafts and interesting characters.
Scarborough
The beautiful seaside town of Scarborough is a vibrant, lively precinct where something is always happening. Located at the north end of the Redcliffe Peninsula is the Scarborough Boat Harbour. Many tour operators launch from here, as well as the vehicular ferries that service Moreton Island. Nearby Newport Marina is also home to a number of cruise, scuba charter and fishing experience tour operators. Fishing, boating, diving and yachting activities are all based in Scarborough.
Fresh seafood is synonymous with Scarborough with many visitors making the trek to enjoy a gourmet feast or a more casual outdoor meal of fish and chips. Scarborough was dubbed home of ‘Australia’s Friendliest Beach’ in 2004 in the Keep Australia Beautiful Clean Beach Challenge. The beach area and its surrounding esplanades and parks are enjoyed by family groups picnicking and playing, swimmers, water sports enthusiasts, walkers, cyclists and even parachuters who often use the beach as a landing zone.
