Help Skill Queensland - Bring a Mate to College
On the 24th of February, the College is holding a "Bring a mate to College" day. The day will allow our students to act as ambassadors for the skills agenda and invite a "mate" to the College.
The general public is invited to dine in style at the College training restaurant. Open two nights a week, a gourmet menu which is designed by the apprentices themselves and changed every 4 weeks is on offer.
The restaurant showcases the talents of the School-based Apprentice Chefs, whose major training is in the preparation of meals, known as 'back of house'. These young chefs are working towards completing their Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) and their Certificate III in Hospitality, while studying for their QCE.
Some training in restaurant service, known as 'front of house', is also undertaken. For some of the student-apprentices, this is their first experience of working 'front of house'. This valuable training experience gives the student a realistic view of the operation of a restaurant and this, partnered with the experience gained in 'back of house', will ultimately provide the whole picture and a greater advantage in the workplace.
The restaurant is available for private functions and bookings are essential.
Your patronage, patience and support for this training facility are much appreciated.
