About this Program:

The Certificate IV in Career Development comprises 16 Units of Competency based on the endorsed Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA) Professional Standards competency framework. This qualification involves the application of a career development framework to assist clients to gain knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours that underpin a selfdirected approach to life, learning and work.

Job summary:

Work at this level in career development and employment services may include, for example:

  • Work in career information and transition services
  • Job search and employment support in a range of contexts, including disability
  • Assisting in career advisor roles in education, training, school or transition

This qualification may also be appropriate for teachers and other school personnel already holding a relevant professional qualification and working in areas such as:

  • School career advice and VET in schools
  • Human resources, education and training industry specialization

Career Opportunities:

Graduates will complete the program with the skills and confidence recognized in industry, to assist clients/students to; explore and plan career options; undertake self-directed career development; and to locate, secure and maintain suitable employment. Holders of the Certificate IV in Career Development are eligible for Associate Membership of the Career Development Association of Australia (CDAA).

Pathways to further Learning:

Graduates of this qualification may continue further study at a higher level by undertaking a Graduate Certificate in Career Development.
