Program Title: Certificate II in Air-conditioning Split Systems

This course is provided for people working or seeking to work in the Air-conditioning Industry and require a restricted licence to install split air-conditioning systems.
About This Program
This qualification will provide participants with the skills and knowledge to install residential split system air conditioning systems and apply for restricted licensing issued by the Australian Refrigeration Council.
On completion of the course graduates can apply for a Restricted Split Systems and Air Conditioning Installation and Decommissioning Handling Licence that allows the holder to install and decommission single-head split systems of less than 18kW.
Course Outcomes: The course offers participants enhanced skills and increased confidence to apply for opportunities within the Refrigeration and Electrotechnology Industries in the areas of Apprenticeships/Traineeships.
The qualification meets the Federal Government’s new Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Act 2003 regulations for the Restricted Split Air-Conditioning Installation and Decommissioning Refrigerant Handling Licence. However, those carrying out this work in Queensland must be supervised under the Queensland Office of Fair Trading (OFT) requirements for air-conditioning work, by a person with an OFT refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Qualified Supervisor Certificate.
The qualification excludes competencies required for service, repair, maintenance, diagnostic/fault finding and electrical work or the safe and proper installation of commercial refrigeration and air-conditioning plant and equipment.
Career Opportunities: Graduates will complete the program with the skills and knowledge recognised in industry for roles and titles in a wide range of electrical, instrumentation, air conditioning or refrigeration servicing trades. Entry Requirements: • entry-level contracted employment as a New Apprenticeship • employees whose current occupation needs to be upgraded to a new Electrotechnology Industry Qualification (including those trained outside Australia) • allied occupations wishing to multi-skill by seeking to obtain an Electrotechnology Industry Qualification (including those trained outside Australia)
