Course Information
What is the Certificate in Training and Assessment? This is the essential qualification for people wanting a career as a trainer and assessor.
Why do teachers, trainers and assessors want this qualification?
Many Colleges request the TAA40104 in selection criteria for teaching and training positions. It is a well recognised and valued professional qualification. The full TAA is required for trainers who deliver vocational courses and accredited training in a Registered Training Organisation.
Industry also prefers the TAA40104 for workplace learning. Starting out – Introduction to Training (Enterprise Skills)
If you are new to training and do not need the full TAA qualification, The Australian Trade Training College (ATTC) offers our enterprise trainer course that teaches basic planning and presentation skills for short course delivery to small groups.
Workplace Supervisor Assessors
If you conduct assessment only, then as a minimum, you need to complete three of the Assessment units to become a recognised Workplace Assessor.
Upgrading from the Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training (BSZ40198)
Many people earned the "old" the Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training (BSZ40198).
This is still a recognised training qualification; however, you will eventually need to upgrade for professional development. Some revised Training Packages require trainers and assessors to upgrade to TAA, but you will not be required to do the full qualification all over again. The TAA qualification has 14 units. A current trainer will complete 8 "new" TAA units and can gain recognition for 6 equivalent BSZ units. You also have to demonstrate "current competence" in the equivalent 6 units to show you are still training and assessing in a vocational environment. Please talk to us to check if you are eligible to enrol in the ATCNB’s shorter TAA Bridging Course.
Classroom based delivery and assessment within the course
Generally, we offer the courses in workshop mode spread over several weeks. Our full TAA course for new trainers is conducted over 10 days that allows time for important training delivery practice and conduct of assessments. This means you have less work to complete outside of the class. There is block training for some days then a break between workshops to allow for homework and preparation.
