Does your business carry out any of these tasks to automotive air conditioning systems?
• Regassing • Removal or recycling of gas • Carrying out repairs • Retrofitting • Installing air conditioning systems • Overhauling compressors or other components • General servicing
If you answered YES to any of these then anyone carrying out these tasks must hold a current Air Conditioning Refrigeration Handling Licence. To obtain this licence a Certificate II in Automotive Mechanical (air conditioning) is needed to make an application to the Australian Refrigeration Council.
The Air Conditioning Refrigeration Handling Licence is also required for any workplace that deals with air conditioning (A/C ) when making an application for a Refrigerant Trading Authorisation. This authorisation is mandatory to order and store air conditioning gas.
The Australian Trade Training College is offering training in Certificate II in Automotive Mechanical (air conditioning). In recent years there have been changes to legislation put forward by the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts and the Australian Refrigeration Council. These changes make it compulsory for anyone who is involved in the servicing and repair of air conditioning systems to hold an Automotive Air Conditioning Refrigerant Handling License. This information can be accessed in the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Regulations 1995 and through the ARCTICK website. www.arctick.org
